You’re equipping LiT to set junior leaders’ hearts on fire for Jesus
It’s exciting to see young people emerging not just with a passion to follow Jesus – but with a desire to serve him in their local church and community. And with your help, Leaders in Training (LiT) plays a powerful role in raising up the next generation of godly leaders.
LiT is a week-long camp for junior leaders in Years 9 to 12, encouraging and equipping them for ministry through Bible studies, training seminars, worship, fellowship, and fun activities. It’s a life-changing experience for teenagers like Tahlia.
“I’ve really learned to have God as the number-one priority in my life,” shares Tahlia. “Not only did I grow in my faith [at LiT] but I also made friendships I’m going to have for the rest of my life.”
Annese is another young person powerfully impacted by LiT. She explains:
“It’s great to be surrounded by a lot of other people who also have the same faith. I’ve been really encouraged by them. Each year we’ve been able to build upon our skills and encourage each other to continue to believe in God and share his Word with others, even though we might have challenges at school.”
Three hundred young people and 90 leaders from 85 churches all over Sydney attended LiT Summer camp from January 23–27 at Youthworks Port Hacking Conference Centres. Inspiring teaching from guest speakers Mike Raiter, and Youthworks College graduates Josh Goscombe and Josh Hayward set hearts on fire for Jesus! LiT has proven so popular that we now run a second camp, LiT Spring, each September.
Churches that send their youth to LiT report significant growth in the lives of their young leaders as a result of attending camp. CJ, Youth Minister at St Stephen’s Normanhurst, says:
“LiT is a great opportunity to see young people digging into the Bible deeply, and wrestling with it to understand how to read and apply Scripture. They’re also learning practical ministry skills that they can then take back to their local church.
“We’ve seen the value over the last few years of young leaders who come on LiT, who return to the local church excited and equipped to serve in ministry.”
Tim, Youth Minister at Norwest Anglican Church, also believes that LiT is an important aspect of equipping young leaders. He says:
“LiT is a really significant part of our church’s training program for our high schoolers who serve in kids’ ministry. It’s a valuable week where they learn how to read the Bible, understand it and explain it to the children they lead.”
Please pray that many young lives will be impacted through LiT and be challenged to grow as believers, as leaders, and as servants of Jesus. And thank you for your generous support that helps make this powerful ministry possible!
