Youthworks is seeking an Outdoor Ministry Leader to join our team. Youthworks leads the way in professional Christian Outdoor Education. Through the practice of temporary community, the passionate, enthusiastic and highly skilled team use outdoor learning experiences to bring together bible-based discipleship and outdoor education in a unique and powerful way. The team is made up of a talented bunch of people who love Jesus, seek adventure in the outdoors and believe that not all lessons are best taught in the classroom. They are just as passionate about Christian ministry to young people as they are about adventurous experiences in God’s creation.
About the role
To facilitate quality Christian Outdoor Education programs that combine the guiding of outdoor recreation activities with the Word ministry skills of evangelism, teaching and discipleship.
Your responsibilities
Provide instruction on activities such as sailing, canoeing, abseiling, indoor rock climbing, archery, orienteering and high and low ropes
Conduct evening and weekend program activities as required
Lead and or participate in overnight expeditions
Undertake additional duties as required to assist in the facilitation of quality guest service
You will need to demonstrate
Qualifications in Outdoor Recreation (Certificate III level or higher)
Qualifications (current) in First Aid and Water Rescue
Experience working with young people
Experience in facilitating small group discussions
Personal Christian faith and willingness to work within an Anglican organisation
What we would really like you to have
Previous experience in a similar role
Certificate IV in Outdoor Recreation or working towards
Remote or Wilderness First Aid
Own transport and a current driver’s licence are essential due to the location of Port Hacking Conference Centres.
