Through your support of Youthworks, you’re equipping people like the Rev Mike Begbie with the tools they need to disciple youth and children to live a Christ-centred life.

As Mike explains, “Youthworks is having a profound impact on the life of our church every week. The training and outlook I received at Youthworks College continues to shape my thinking and guide our practice.”

Mike grew up in a church where his faith flourished from a young age. But when he started high school, he saw his church’s youth ministry stop due to low numbers of kids and leaders.

Longing to help other young people, he went to Youthworks College, which he says, “really changed my life, because it was there that I grew as a Christian and found my ministry calling.”

Now leading St Luke’s Anglican, Hornsby Heights, Mike is keen to establish a thriving ministry for children and youth. Thankfully, through your commitment to create effective youth and children’s ministry, Youthworks is able to come and help him do that.

Mike says, “Youthworks taught me how to teach the Bible to young people with an understanding of the physical, emotional, and cultural factors that affect spiritual development. They shaped my understanding of intergenerational ministry – why it’s important for young people to see older people living out their faith, and for older people to be reminded of the joy of being young.”
